Treatment of HIV

Treatment of HIV

The treatment for HIV is called antiretroviral therapy (ART).

ART involves taking a combination of HIV medicines (called an HIV treatment regimen) every day.
ART is recommended for everyone who has HIV.
People with HIV should start taking HIV medicines immediately after diagnosis.

Note: No cure exists for AIDS, but with strict adherence to ARVs (antiretroviral regimens),
one can slow the disease’s progress as well as prevent secondary infections and complications.
