HIV Prevention Methods

HIV can be prevented by:

  1. Abstinence
  2. Condoms
  3. Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) - Emergency medication taken within 72 hours of exposure to HIV
  4. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) – Medication taken by HIV negative people to reduce the chance of getting HIV from having sex without a condom
  5. Testing: Get tested regularly and know your HIV status, so you can know the right prevention option for you.
