STDs/STIs are generally acquired by having a sexual contact with an infected person.
STIs/STDs are caused by organisms (bacteria, virus and parasites) that may pass from person to another in blood, semen or vaginal and other bodily fluids.
STIs do not always show symptoms, hence, it is possible to contract STIs from people who seem perfectly healthy and may not even know they have an infection.
It is contracted through having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex with someone who has STIs.
However, STIs are not only transmitted through sex because some STI can be contracted by sharing needles, breastfeeding and on toilet seats. STIs can attack both male and females.
